What's up? I had to slip out couple hours ago & will have to again, though only briefly. When I left 13 of you folks had weighed in...

?????

You all are cordially invited to join us in a Grok for Peace (namely OUR peace; the world can figure itself out...) A lot of you have noticed the positive vibe of the last few days and I personally believe that's a contributing factor as to why some of you have come out of lurk mode. I lurked for over a year before I ever posted a syllable. I only joined in a couple months ago & I'm a parttimer with mostly fluff posts. But some of the folks around here can sure weave themselves into your day in a very good way. That's one of the few things I know.

One of the others was the sense of community even a fucked-up kid like me could find back then. Some of you Deadheads changed my life back in the day & I owe you more than you'll ever know. In some ways I just can't separate the Dead from the Deadheads--in that the synergy that was there when it all worked made the experience unique & safe & revelatory.

Some of the folks around here are looking to share in a sense of healing, hoping as many of you as possible choose to join in. Especially with so many recent voices, we're hoping y'all will join in...even if you elect to do so anonymously. Think of us as we're thinking of you.

The voting continues.

Peace.

Gee, think you've summed up most of our feelings/experience there. Nicely put. Oh, you forgot to mention what a great group of assholes we are. Next time.

The problem with lurkers (having been one) is that they refuse to admit that they are assholes, which, of course makes them assholes. Do they not understand that coming out of the closet and joing assholes anonymous is the only way to get one's head out of one's ass--or, rather, one's ass out of one's head? Or, wait, was it . . . . .

Okay, okay...

"I'M AN ASSHOLE!!"

...wow, that WAS liberating!

...of course, the last time I confessed to being an asshole, my wife, family, most of my friends, half my former coworkers, the IRS, DMV, all 6 of Billy Joel's fans, the Maine State Police & the Kennebec County District Attorney's office all signed the affadavit...

Well, we're doing a mass grok and will be covering all 5 shows if the majority agree. By doing this we are hoping to get everyone involved at least some of the time. If it's ok with you, I can put you down for a "Yes".

Hey 73! Just when you can, chime in about what's being played (if you have an inkling to do so) and we can all connect that way. I won't be listening all day - I just gave my two weeks notice and need to rest my brain and make a cd shelf - but I will be keeping up with the shows and trying to stream/play them with everyone else so that when I do post everyone is listening to the same show and same song.

Does that make sense?

Come and go as you please on this marathon... The original concept was and will be just one show at a time...

For a definition of GROK, first read this: http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=92626

We are simply applying that concept to our little world by attempting to get as many of us as possible listening to the same show(s) at the same time, the hope being that having so much energy focused simultaneously can only result in good things (that or it'll warm up last night's lasagna quicker than the microwave). Kind of a modern Group Consciousness type of thing, very sunflowers and daisies, but the last couple have turned out to be a blast.
